Meghan’s Joy over The Royal Family’s Perfection

Squaddies and trolls alike, let's talk about happiness, royalty-style. Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, recently dropped a little nugget of wisdom in her Netflix show trailer over the weekend: “We’re not in the pursuit of perfection; we’re in pursuit of joy.” Now, was she sending a message to the royal family? Oh, absolutely! She might as well have sent it by royal carrier pigeon for full effect! Meghan’s Joy over The Royal Family’s Perfection.

You see, the pursuit of perfection among the royals is legendary. The Duchess experience the pain of perfection firsthand during her time in the royal family. In her Harry and Meghan Netflix documentary, she once said that the royal family ‘cares more about how it appears rather than how it feels.’ It is all about suppressing your emotions to look perfect at all times; frankly, as a woman, you should be seen, not be heard. Remember that mantra, ‘never complaint, never explain.’  I wouldn't be surprised if there’s a secret royal handbook titled "How to Be Perfectly Miserable: A Guide to Being British Royalty." According to the late Princess Diana and Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, that title perfectly sums up life behind palace walls.

Their relentless quest for faultlessness and positive press seems more like a Herculean task, and it’s driving some of them into very prince-unlike habits—think more cocktails than afternoon tea and more existential dread than royal delight. Some members even resorted to toe-sucking sessions rather than facing the reality that their prince charming was nothing more than a convicted pedophile’s best friend.

Take Meghan and the iconic Princess Diana; they walked among the royals and realized that the palace isn’t all tiaras and teacakes—it’s also a pressure cooker of perfection machine that is guaranteed to suck the soul out of your body in no time. Look no further than the latest pictures of Princess Kate Middleton. Even sparkling Princess Kate, with all the curated grace and charm in the world, seems to be caught in this royal labyrinth.

Yet Meghan, our savvy Duchess, is suggesting something radical: What if you added a dash of JOY instead of adding to your collection of crowns and stolen jewels? What if mental health took precedence over pirated wealth? It would be mind-blowing. It’s like trading a stolen diamond for a day at the beach and realizing you love the sound of the waves.

Meghan deserves royal applause for reminding us mere mortals that you can be regal and real simultaneously. You don’t need to trade in your happiness for philanthropic duties. It’s refreshing, like a Californian breeze through the stuffy halls of Buckingham Palace.

I’m not saying the royal family needs to ditch tradition altogether. However, I would be okay with the British and Commonwealth nations ditching them entirely.  But perhaps they could swap their stiff upper lip for a cheeky, authentic grin every now and then? Prioritize happiness, seek a bit of joy among the pomp and circumstance, and maybe, just maybe, they might discover that being perfectly imperfect is the real mark of majesty.

In Meghan’s world, joy trumps stolen jewels, and health takes the crown over mafia-like status. So here's to those royal reminders that it's okay to laugh, live, and love, even in a British land weighed down by Indian tiaras and medieval traditions. Thank you, Meghan, for showing us the way to a slightly imperfect but joy-filled life!
